BEND - TURN - TURNING - TURNOFF
1. "a bend = a turn = a turning": a curve in a road, river etc: chỗ quanh, chỗ cong, chỗ lượn, chỗ ngoặt, khúc quanh, khúc cong, khúc lượn ... của một con đường.
The first bend is to the right, and the second to the left.
Thường không nói "Turn/take the right at the second bend" hoặc "Turn/take the right at the second turning". Bạn nên dùng các cụm sau đây:
=> round/around a bend:
He sped around the bend, sounding his hornfuriously.
=> to round a/the first/the second... bend (= go round a bend):
Rounding the next bend, he saw the hotel ahead of him.
Round the third bend, you'll see it ahead of you.
=> take a bend:
You took that bend very fast!
=> take a turn/turning (to/on the right/left; on your right/left):
He took a sudden turn to the left.
We took a wrong turning and got completely lost.
Take this turning and follow the road around the first bend and take the first turning on your left (by the 'end of Essert Romand' signpost) into 'La Merive'.
=> do a right/left-hand turn:
You can't do a right-hand turn here.
=> make a right/left turn (into...):
He made a left turn into a quiet street.
Make a left/right turn into West Street.
You'll see it ahead of you once you make the turn.
Be becarefull! There's a very sharp turn at the end of the road!
=> take the first/second... turning (to/on the right/left; on your right/left):
Take the first turning to the right.
Take the second turn on your left, and you'll see it ahead of you.

2. "a turnoff": a road that leads off a main road or motorway: đường rẻ ra từ một con đường chính hoặc từ đừng cao tốc/xa lộ.
=> take the turnoff to/on the right/left:
Take the turnoff to the right and the hotel is just 400 metres further on, on the left (right on the first bend).
They slowed down. There was a turn-off just ahead.
=> reach the turnoff for...
Yully reached the turnoff for the cottage and sped as fast as she could through a winding road.
