CHECK = GO OVER = EXAMINE = INSPECT
1. CHECK = GO OVER something: to look at something closely to make sure that everything is correct, in good condition, safe or satisfactory: kiểm tra/xem xét kỹ lưỡng để đảm bảo mọi thứ đều đúng, ở tình trạng tốt, an toàn hay thỏa đáng/vừa ý.

2. EXAMINE: to look at somebody/something closely to see if there is anything wrong or to find the cause of a problem: kiểm tra/xem xét người/vật/sự việc ... kỹ lưỡng để xem có bất cứ sơ suất/sai sót/nhầm lẫn... gì không hoặc là tìm ra nguyên nhân của một vấn đề.
The goods were examined for damage on arrival.
Hàng hóa này đã được kiểm tra thiệt hại trên đường đến.
3. INSPECT: to look at somebody/something closely to make sure that everything is satisfactory; to officially visit a school, factory, etc. in order to check that rules are being obeyed and that standards are acceptable: kiểm tra/xem xét người/vật/sự việc ... kỹ lưỡng để đảm bảo mọi thứ thỏa đáng/vừa ý; công khai thanh tra một trường học, một nhà máy... để kiểm tra xem có tuân thủ các nội quy/phép tắc hay không, và xem có chấp nhận các tiêu chuẩn đó được hay không.

* check = go over something: to check something carefully for mistakes, damage or anything dangerous: kiểm tra/xem xét vật/sự việc ... một cách kỹ lưỡng để tìm ra các sai sót/nhầm lẫn/lỗi lầm, sự thiệt hại/hư hao hay bất cứ cái gì nguy hiểm.

=> Go over your work for spelling mistakes before you hand it in.
