Go to beach hay Go to the beach
Người ta luôn nói "Go to the beach", không nói "go to beach". Vì "beach" không thuộc nhóm các danh từ như: school, college, university, church, hospital... khác nghĩa khi dùng với "go to" hoặc "go to the...".
(Tương tự như "beach", chúng ta luôn nói "Go to the library", "go to the theater", "go to the movies"...)
"go to the beach", "go to the seaside", hay "hit the beach" đều có nghĩa là đến bãi biển để tắm biển hoặc tắm nắng....
Thủy thủ hay người đánh cá khi ra khơi thường nói "out to sea", "go to sea", "put (out) to sea" (không có "the"). "Go to sea" còn có nghĩa là "become a sailor".
1. out to sea: out onto the sea
VD: She rowed the boat out to sea.
2. go to sea: to set out on a voyage (= to leave a place and begin a journey/a voyage)
VD: The fishermen were unable to go to sea in such storms.
3. put (out) to sea: start a journey in a ship; leave a port or harbor by ship or boat.
VD: The expedition is nearly ready to put to sea.
The cruiser put to sea yesterday from the port of Murmansk.
Chú thích: Động từ "to beach" = to pull or make a boat go out of the water and onto dry land: kéo thuyền lên bãi biển... VD: He beached the boat and lifted the boy onto the shore.
