Just - other - another
I. JUST (adverb, adjective)
1. adverb
a. now, at the same time, very soon, very recently: bây giờ, vừa mới, sắp (sửa), chỉ trong chốc lát nữa thôi...
He just left – if you run, you can catch him.
It was just past (= very soon after) midnight.
We got the children off to school just as the bus was about to leave.
We're just about to begin (= We will begin very soon).
The doctor will see you in just a minute/moment/second (= very soon).
b. exactly: chính xác...
Beth looks just like her mother. (Beth giống y mẹ cô ta.)
It was just what I expected. => just + question word "what"
c. only, simply: chỉ...
I'll just check my e-mail, then we can go for coffee.
I just called to wish you a happy birthday.
We'll just have to wait and see what happens.
He just won't listen to me. => "Just" can be used to make a statement stronger.
d. almost: hầu như, vừa đủ/đúng..., gần như...
We arrived at the airport just in time to catch the plane.

2. adjective
a. honest: thật thà, chân thật, công bằng trong quyết định/phán xét/cách nhìn/quan điểm...
He's a just man so you can expect to be treated well.
You need to be just with all your students, not just the ones you like.
b. appropriate, deserved: xứng đáng, thích hợp, thích đáng...
I think she got her just deserts. (= what she deserved).
He was sent to his room as a just punishment.
II. OTHER
1. dùng để đề cập đến những người hay vật... khác hoặc được thêm vào so với những người hay vật đã được đề cập đến trước.
Mr Harris and Mrs Bate and three other teachers were there.
Are there any other questions.
2. The/Adjective possessive pronoun (my, your, his...) + OTHER + a singular noun/one: đề cập đến người/vật ... còn lại trong số hai người/vật.
My other sister is a doctor.
= The other sister is a doctor.
= The other is a doctor. (pronoun).
He raised one arm and then the other one.
= He raised one arm and then the other. (pronoun)
3. The/Adjective possessive pronoun (my, your, his...) + OTHER + plural noun/ones: đề cập đến những người/vật ... còn lại trong một nhóm người/vật.... đang được đề cập đến – xác định ("other" trong trường hợp này là "determiner"). Ngoài ra, "THE OTHERS" còn là đại từ số nhiều – xác định (đứng một mình).
I'll wear my other shoes – these are dirty.
"I'd like this one." "What about the other ones?"
= What about the others? (pronoun)
I went swimming while the other colleagues played tennis.
= I went swimming while the others played tennis. (pronoun)
4. THE OTHER + a place/direction/way... được dùng để chỉ phía bên kia, đối diện với nơi bạn đang đứng, đang có mặt, hoặc đang đi.....
I work on the other side of town.
He crashed into a car coming the other way.
She's standing on the other side of the street.
III. ANOTHER
Another = An + Other -> Vì vậy bạn phải áp dụng những quy tắc của mạo từ xác định "a/an".
"another" có thể:
- là một đại từ (đứng một mình)
- another + one
- another + singular countable noun (danh từ số ít đếm được)
- another + of + plural noun (danh từ số nhiều)
- another + number + plural noun (số đếm + một danh từ số nhiều).
"another" có nghĩa là "thêm một/hay nhiều cái khác nữa – cùng loại".
I don't like this room. I'm going to ask another. (pronoun)
"It's a bill." "Oh no, not another!" (pronoun)
I have already eaten two sandwiches though now I want another one. (= an additional sandwich)
Let's do it another time. (determiner)
We need another computer. ( = a new one)
She's going to be another Madonna. ( = as famous as her)
Would you like another drink? (= would you like some more drink? – the same drink).
"I got another of those calls yesterday."
"Finished?" "No, I've got another three questions to do."
"We've still got another (= a further) forty miles to go.
